In the area of immigration law, we represent foreign nationals, U.S. employers alike. Our representations include but are not limited to the following:
- Deportation and Removal Defense: If you or a family member has been charged by the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration Customs Enforcement, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services or Customs and Border Protection as deportable or removable, seek legal counsel immediately. If they are detained,e can argue for a lower bond amount; defend against the deportation charge themselves; or apply for relief from deportation via cancellation of removal, adjustment of status or other appropriate waivers. If the immigration judge orders deportation we can file an appeal or a Motion to Reconsider.Deportation is serious business and you deserve help from an immigration lawyer dedicated to helping you (or your loved one) stay in the United States.
- Family-Based Visas: There are many nuances in the family-based visa process, whether for your spouse or fiancé(e) or for your parent, child or sibling. In addition to helping clients sponsor family members and relatives for green cards, we routinely represent U.S. citizens in filing fiancé K-1 visas. If an alien is granted conditional residence, we will represent him/her in the removal of the conditions. Green card holders often return to us for help with the citizenship/naturalization process. If your visa petition has been denied, we offer knowledgeable legal help with an appeal. If you are the sponsored family member of a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and you are the victim of domestic abuse, we will represent you in the process of applying for a stand-alone visa under the Violence With Women Act (VAWA) or explore other options.
- Employment Based Immigration: Our law firm handles both immigrant and nonimmigrant employment visas. We represent a wide range of companies and foreign nationals in the PERM process and with the subsequent applications for permanent residence. We represent foreign nationals who need to apply for or renew the non-immigrant H-1B visa; who are on an H-1B and wish to transfer to a new company; or who need to apply for extensions during their sixth year. For employees and investors seeking temporary work visas, we efficiently handle all types of temporary work visas, including B-1 business visitor visas, L visas, O visas and TN visas.
In our Ohio criminal defense practice, we handle both state and federal criminal cases, including misdemeanors and felonies. We have significant abilities in the area of DUI defense, including challenging the validity of field sobriety tests. We routinely advise immigrants and non-immigrants on the potential effects of arrest or conviction on their immigration status.
